Feasibility Study of Communication Access via Iridium Constellation for Small-Scale Magnetospheric Ionospheric Plasma Experiment Mission

The small-scale magnetospheric and ionospheric plasma experiment (SNIPE) is a mission initiated by the Korea Astronomy Space Science Institute (KASI) in 2017 comprises four 6U-sized nano-satellites (Korea Satellite-1, KASISat-1) flying formations. main goal of SNIPE to investigate space environment low Earth orbit at 500-km. Because Iridium & GPS Board (IGB) installed on KASISat-1, communication simulation required analyze contact number duration. In this study, simulations between satellite network KASISat-1 are performed using STK Pro (System Tool Kit Ver 11.2) from AGI (Analytical Graphics, Inc.). durations were analyzed each date. analysis shows that average access per day 38.714 times, with an 2.533 times for week. Furthermore, average, linked 70.597 min daily. Moreover, 4.625 duration individual orbit.
